Mr Saibal Saha

Saibal is a Ph.D. scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), jointly supervised by Dr. Sandipan Ray and Prof. Greg Murray. His current research at the Circadian Rhythms and Disease Biology Lab examines the intricate relationship between the human molecular clock and bipolar disorder. He aims to uncover how sleep and circadian disruption relate to the disorder and investigate changes in metabolic levels to identify potent biomarkers for predicting bipolar disorder relapse.

He holds a B.Sc. from Vidyasagar College, University of Calcutta (2019) and a M.Sc. from the University of Kalyani (2021), where he ranked 4th in the University and received the Dr. N.K. Bhattacharya Award for excellence in Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Plant Breeding. He interned at IITH in 2022. He qualified Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in the Life sciences category in 2023 and later worked as a Junior Research Fellow on an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-funded project gaining valuable research experience before beginning his Ph.D.
