Ms Ly Nguyen

Swinburne University of Technology, Australia

Ms Ly Nguyen is an early career researcher, psychologist in training, teaching associate, and visual artist currently completing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Swinburne University of Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology from Monash University. Her research focuses on sleep and circadian rhythms, mood disorders, and the clinical application of passive sensing technologies in mental health care. As part of the Tipping Point project, Ly is examining the clinical utility of actigraphy in bipolar disorder through a quantitative study on mood variability and a qualitative study exploring lived experience perspectives on self-monitoring using wearable devices.
Ly has a strong interest in integrating lived experience into mental health research and practice and is passionate about improving mental health literacy—particularly within underrepresented and culturally diverse communities. Her work is guided by a commitment to making psychological science more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of those with lived experience of mental illness.
(Outside of research, Ly is a visual artist working across traditional and digital media. Her art explores themes of memory, language, and the internal emotional world. She also enjoys spending time with her two cats and relaxing with video games.)
