Do you have
BIPOLAR DISORDER?

The Rhythms and Rewards study aims to examine day/night rhythms in how people pursue goals and rewards. For example, some people tend to be excited and motivated to go after goals in the evening, others tend to be more motivated in the morning. We are interested in how these daily rhythms may differ for people who do and do not have bipolar disorder.

We are recruiting people aged between 18-45 years who are based in Victoria, and who either:

  • have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and are currently receiving care;
    or
  • have no history of mania or depression
Rhythms and Rewards Study

We will ask people to rate their mood, answer questions about the activities they are involved in, and play short games on their cell phone a few times per day for two weeks. We pay people $40 per hour for time completing the tasks.

We will also ask you to complete an MRI brain scan, where you’ll complete a series of tasks while in the scanner. You can learn more about the MRI scan visit by watching the attached video.

The study is being conducted through Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, along with our collaborators at the University of California, Berkeley; and University College London.
